Coming at you from under the radar is a songwriter and rapper by the name of Riz La Vie. He’s covertly dropped a brand new EP, titled Breathe., and we’re inhaling this musical oxygen in deep today. Our favourite track on the EP is ‘Darlin’, because it showcases the dynamic talent of the Brooklyn-based artist. We start in more indie territory with reverb-soaked guitars and keys underpinned by a steady tambourine shake. Here we get to grips with Riz La Vie’s whiskeyed voice which croaks, breaks, and rises with emotion. After two minutes of sensuous anticipation, the track flips to clipped beats and apocalyptic bass; the kind that with the volume turned right up turns your insides to jelly and vibrates your bones. Riz also slips another card from under his sleeve as he raps with confidence and ferocity; observing the world through this unforgiving lens. Naturally, we recommend checking out the whole EP,  of which the artist says “I hope it gives you the confidence to go within yourself and the find the light, that you have been hiding from you.” - Hannah Thacker
